FO/Pattern Baby Ugg Inspired Hat

First off, I love knitting for babies and it is so much fun to knit for winter babies! And when you have a family as big and "close knit" as mine, there always tends to be a new winter baby almost every other year (or two or three in the same year!),

Moving on since I am sure you don't care....

This hat was inspired by Jen Gontier's pattern for adorable Baby Ugg Booties. If you haven't made a pair, you really should! You can look her up on Ravelry to find the pattern.

Ugg Inspired Knitted Baby Hat
This hat was inspired by Jen Gontier's pattern for adorable Baby Ugg Booties. If you haven't made a pair, you really should! You can look her up on Ravelry to find the pattern.

    Materials:
About 3 oz of main color worsted weight yarn - MC (I used Simply Soft in Chocolate)
About 1 oz of contrasting color bulky weight yarn - CC (I used Bernat Baby Boucle in white)
    Size 7 knitting needles (US)
    ~ ~ ~
    Abbreviations:
    MC - main color
    CC - contrasting color
    K- knit
    P - purl
*….* - repeat what in with in the *'s
    CO - cast on
    Sts - stitches
    ~ ~ ~
    The Pattern:
    With  CC  CO 60sts
Knit for one inch (if using the baby boucle yarn, it's about 5 or 6 rows)
Switch to MC and purl one row
    Row 1 - *k2,p2* across
    Row 2 - *k2, p2* across
    Row 3 - *p2, k 2* across
    Row 4 - *p2, k2* across
Continue this for about 5.5 inches from the beginning and end on row  4. Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches, sew side seams. Make and attach a pom-pom if desired.
    Size?
To be honest, I am not sure.  My final measurements were 7 inches from the center of the crown and 19 inches for the head circumference. According to Bev's size chart from www.bevscountrycottage.comI I would assume this hat would fit a baby that is between a newborn and 6months, the stitch pattern also makes the hat stretchy so, it should fit well….I hope!
